I have a post in Ask The Tech/Radios Mobile, I have done audio power mods, and a swing mod to my 2950. I get alot of heat from Q51 the audio power amp. I was told that Volting the Finals would keep the heat down. Does anyone have the info on how to do this Volting Mod ? Im guessing it take putting 12v on the finals. I would like the correct way of doing this, many thanks for any help.

Find the "mirror board" near the back of the radio, jumpering 3 test points. remove the mirror board and unsolder the clip that is the center test point. Cut this clip in half vertically and re-install into the front hole of the test point...the result will now be an open hole on the back of that test point. Next, run a wire from the hole of the now-modified center test point, to pin 3 of Q51 (13.8v main power). Replace the mirror board in the clips and make sure the front 1/2 of the modified clip is secure against the mirror board...solder it if you have to.
