Hey, I am buying a cobra 2000, and the gusy says it was modified for extra channels, i dont care for them , but he says channels 1- 14 dont work scince the mod, how EXACTLYYYYY do i fix it?? Explain where exactly i look.

Rattlesnakejake, up above in another thread you told someone not to try an old radio, but buy a new one. That would be good advise for you to take on this deal. Cobra 2000's were good radios for their day, but they haven't made them in several years, it's hard to find one that hasn't been hacked, your buying someone else's problems it sounds to me. Well, it works perfectly, has never been keyed up, and basiccly has been in storage. It s a nice one, and its only 150.

Check vco tune range. Wont be a big deal to fix if ch 15 and above work. Maybe a address pin short re bad wiring in the mod. I'd pick it up for that np and fix it quicksmart. Need more info here to help if you get it. Try the L19 vco lock first. Look for tx indicator ch 1 when you adjust while keying mike.

I have one that has been modified via a rotary switch. Only way to mod this radio. Is simple and works very well. That way no hacking just solder wires to board and go. Think I'd leave it. Tony
