Allows you to tune the frequency of your radio a little more up and down than the 1 or 2 Hz it already can do. Steve Tech181 Tech181@copperelectronics.com |

Do you plan on surfing between channels or going above or below the CB band? If not, don't bother. Steve Tech181 Tech181@copperelectronics.com |

Also, if you plan on working SSB in or out of band, it's very important so as to get on the same frequency as other stations. |

It is a must do mod if you talk with a bunch of others that are unlocked on SSB. It also shifts your frequency on transmit so you need to pay attention to where it set so that you will be on frequency. Alignment should be checked after a mod like this to make sure both receive and transmit track together, and to check the linearity of the clarifier control. This mod is a love it or hate it kind of thing. |

If you want a clarifier that tracks on TX, better connect a freq counter to the thing or you'll never know where you are at. Specifically a 7-digit counter. IMO it's more of a pain in the arse than it's worth. Of course if you have stable radio, (NOT a Galaxy) that doesn't drift like a sailboat in a hurricane, it makes for a more enjoyable unlocked experience. Steve Tech181 Tech181@copperelectronics.com |
