Check the audio chip. It's a common probmlem with these radios. If it's a President Madison, the audio chips are different between the 4-pin and the 5-pin versions of the radio. But you said Uniden Madison which would be the same as the 5-pin listed below. The audio chip voltages should be: 4-pin version (IC4 uPc1156) 1- 13.85 2- 7.47 3- 1.37 4- 3.46 5- 3.49 6- 4.06 7- 1.29 8- 0 9- 12.90 10- 6.92 5-pin version (IC6 TA7222P) 1- 13.53 2- 6.51 3- 0 4- 0 5- 0 6- 1.15 7- 0 8- 0 9- 6.76 10- 12.79 |

Cool- If you cannot remedy your problem, send it to 307. I have the same radio as you 8719PLL and sent it to him and he got it smoking. He is reasonable and honest. You will not be dissatisfied. Send him an email. XLAXX

Coolcat If the receive audio on the Uniden Madison is dead, try this. 1- Locate C-186 next to the audio power chip TA7222. C-186 is a 220uF 10 volt electrolitic capacitor. 2- Unsolder one leg of C-186 or just pull it out completely. 3- Power up the radio. 4- If the receive audio returns, replace C-186 using a higher voltage rating such as a 16 or 25 volt. The capacitance value can be anything from 100uF to 470uF. A 220uF is fine but it has to be small enough to fit in the spot where the original was removed from. When replacing, don't forget to take note of the cap polarity. The C-186 cap can be left out. However, audio receive will be weak but not dead. I hope this may be of some help to you. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

Digger No. Even though the Washington has the same PLL chip, it uses a different PC board. Jeff, kc0gxz. |
