With the channel mod. will this radio go a full 40 up and down and if not what will it do approx.

Off the chip it should cover 26.815 through 28.045. Any frequency that falls between channels 3-4, 7-8, 11-12, 15-16 and 19-20 will be gone because there is a 20Khz jump between each of them instead of the normal 10Khz as with the rest of the channels.
