rightwing,

I have never heard of this mod. I do'nt think it's possible. Did you open up the rest of the 10 meter phone band in that radio? If your interested in using that radio for 10 meter use, (hence the 12 meter request), I can provide that mod.

Yes, follow these steps.

#1 Open up your radio, and look for TR 53.
#2 Remove it.
#3 Buy a Palomar Elite or Boomer 600.

Now you are on 24 MHz. Of course, you are also bleeding over most frequencies known to man as well. :)

Just yanking your chain. The PLL on a 3600 board will not go down that far. I heard a guy say one time that he could make a 3600 board have 12 meter, but then it would lose 10 meter. I think he was smoking crack or something, but he seemed to be serious.

I've added a 47 ohm resistor, spdt switch, and a couple pieces of wire to a galaxy 77, and it goes down to 24.975! so far i've done it to saturns, and a couple 55's.. i'm not sure it'll work on the 3900, i'll have to pull some schematics to see if it'll work.

Do any freebanders really go that far down below 26.100? Don't most commercially available antennas for cb run out of bandwidth around there anyway?

I think that the galaxy 77 and the ss3900 use the same boards.

If I was authorized to operate phone on 12 meters, I doubt that I would want to use a cb to do it...I would use a real hf rig. Even the rangers that do it (12 meter) out of the box dont compare to a real hf rig.
