What is the current draw of a boomer 400 fed with 13.8 volts constant dc,and driven with say an avg. of 20 watts ssb at the input and is there any device or formula to determine a transformers current capability,do the numbers on the transformer mean anything to the user, the transformer weighs 12 pounds and has dual inputs and dual outputs, currently the inputs are hooked in parallel for 110 volts and the outputs are hooked in series for 33 volts dc(with filter cap and bridge rectifier),the only wire gauge I,m sure of is the outputs at 12 gauge, this thing should realy kick but with the right pass transistors, with the boomer avg.435 watts the input voltage drops from 33 down to 28 and the output voltage jumps around between 13.7 and 14 volts,at rest the 317t keeps everthing at 14 volts at the output, since I added 4 more mj2955 pass transistors to the supply for a total of 9 the heat generated is minimal compared to before, but that was simply because I didn't have enough pass transistors,I guess all I want to know is how do I calculate the amps capability of the supply with out actually hooking it to a load,I mean a formula to give me a ball park figure,is it possible,or is it beyond the scope of this forum and my understanding?Bigbob
