The klv550 that I own likes a 2 watt d/k. The 1000p can take a great deal more than that.

Ooh,it can be adjusted lower, others with 2950s go as low as 2.5 watts, ask Tech808 on open forum which vr it is,or you can wait patiently for an answer here, and at 2.5 watts that 2950 will kick that pig with swing to 300 watts, hooo boy, some unit, there's a vr for ssb to or you can adjust your mike gain to approximately 12 watts, that'll get you 600 ponies, like I said SOME UNIT!Bigbob

Dodgeman,

I would strongly suggest starting with a DEAD key of NO MORE than 3 watts and see how that works, you might do better with less maybe 2 1/2 or 2 watts Dead Key.

MIRAGE 2950 Adjustment's:

VR14 ~ AMC for AM Modulation
VR13 ~ AM HIGH POWER
VR15 ~ AM LOW POWER
VR12 ~ ALC for SSB

NOTE! You also do not have enough power to run it with the KLV1000P as it calls for 60 to 100 Watts

Hope this helps.

It will work fine with the 1000p, you just wont get the maximum power out of it. Some of us don't run everything to the max--things tend to last longer if you don't push them all the way to the edge.
