My 2517's beeper has never worked properly. It works for the first few minutes but then stops beeping and is more of a thud. You can tell it is trying to beep but the beep doesn't come out. Also, I watch the watt meter on the radio and it may start out cold with the needle on 22 watts. Slowly as it warms up as I talk the needle drops gradually and may end up with the needle on 15 watts. Could my built in power supply be defective? The radio always talks good.
