Hi I hate to ask anymore about this radio But I paid a lot for it and I hate to use it for a doorstop I contacted ranger and the cpu board is no longer made. Sad There must be a lot of these radios still around.I recall the guy I was talking to saying it had a hum on transmit so maybe it is the parts in the power supply you were talking about I could live with out the display lights would you happen to know if the parts in the power supply can still be found I dont want to send it to a shop and find out they cant and loose more money. Thanks coolcat |

i would call them before i sent it. personally i can get the parts, but i have no idea about the shop you are sending it to. if they have been at this for anytime, they should be able to get them also. |

is there a way to power the radio w/external power supply and if so,have you tried this first? i'm not familiar w/the 2990,but this is just a thought! at least this way you could possibly eliminate one circuit.good luck,Slim CDX285 |
