I own a cherokee cbs 500 and i was wondering if it is possible to open up the channels, mod and power? This is the newer type that does not have that little jumper to unlock the channels. Thanks for the help and if you could e-mail me it would be appreciated. cdshot12@cs.com

PA223,

The only mod I could find was where you remove jumper LC7232, and then hold in the channel 9/19 button and turn on the radio?

This gets you 25.165 - 29.655 MHz

Are you in PA? Where?

I was wondering the same thing for my new cbs-500 am only radio. How can it be modified being that it is not the same radio inside as the one the mods are written for. 307 do you have the answer?

the cbs 500 channel mod i have is as follows..
1.remove top cover.
2 look at the back of the faceplate circuit board and there is a jumper connectory like the type in your computer
3.move this jumper off of the pins that it is on now and put them on the other 2 pins
4 put cover back on..

Once the channel mod has been done press channel 9/19 button and then turn on the radio. after this mod, use the number 1 button to select diffrent bands of 40 channel...
Every time radio is shut off it may defaulst back to 10 meter, 9/19 button instructions will help
channel coverage is now 25.065-29.665
for a channel map click on this link..
