recently purchased a 12 tube Elkin Amp and would like to know the specs on this amp. I know it was built in Elkin NC. by Ray but that is the extent of my knowledge about this amp. Would like to have a copy of the manual that was sent with this amp when purchased new as well as any other info that would be a source of info on this amp. I was told it was tuned to do about 1500 watts but dont seem to be able to get but about 1000w out of it. With the exception to that it seems to be an excellent amp. Any info on this amp would be helpful.

Hey comptech, I have a 14 tube elkin and it only does around 1500. I just found out some info for you and anyone else who has ?'s about ELKIN AMPS made by a guy named Ray. I was told by one cb tech where I live and I live in NC about a hour and 1/2 from Elkin that Rays last name is Felts-Ray Felts-----I saw a card that he had and he told me this was the man to see--he also said his father made the amps and worked on them and now Ray just works on them -I dont think he builds them anymore-Also, did you know that he made a 2 pill base box that is 110 v. and that is the only transistor box he ever built.

i live in nc also, and yes ray felts or phelps ( i have heard both) is the man. he no longer builds them but -will- work on them. there is also a many right over the border in sc (i live about 15m from him) that built them with ray and he will also work on them.
