1) Hurricane 350 Ran one from 1981 to 1998 until someone stole it out of my pickup. Nice amp and always flat SWRs. A real bleeder box.
2)Xforce XT400 2x4 great swing amp
3)Magnaforce 200 and 600 Nice SSB amps and killer AM performance as a bonus.

Wolverine I am pretty sure the Palomar 450 is actually a Messenger case and board.

Texas Star DX-500
I have ran it for 10 years, and it still gets the job done. The 4 2SC2879's do quite nicely. I use a Superstar 3900 gold with it, and a 102 inch whip amd mini8 coax.

Palomar TX-75, on the mobile system
Palomar TX-250, on the base system
Palomar is the only brand I've had any luck with on my systems.

prefer not to use anything without 2879's or at least 2290's. 454's a distant 3rd.
that said: 1) dx1600 driven by 100w ar3500 or dx250 or 350
2) dx500 driven by old boomer 250 w/454's
3) dave made and even x-force (though don't own an x) but for bang for the buck, when you need real wattage, not just a high priced alternative for a power mic, TEXAS STAR watts, reliability and performance per dollar they can't be beat!

I ran a TS 250DX for 8 years and loved it! I find the KLV amps comparable. I now run a Class AB modified KLV 300p.

1. Texas Star DX 500 - it runs well on my Astron 70 amp power supply.

2. Texas Star DX 1600 - it does a good job, too.

3. Ameritron ALS-500M - it actually works on all HF bands from 160-10 meters.
