What would you consider the distance would be reached using a two meter radio with 65 watts out of the radio and using a Reapeter.

Hey Lon.

Are you the guy that's been tripping the repeaters here in Lincoln? If so, cut it out.

Jeff.

Highlander,

For 2 meter use I use the Anttron C-146-B Double 5/8 Wave Coaxal Base Omni Antenna.

It looks like a Mini Anttron with GP Kit.

I am hoping that Ken at Anttron will start making the Anttron 2 Meter Quad Beam Again, I loved that Beam.

The Hub on mine broke after about 10 year's, and I put it up and Now I can't find it.

Looked like a Mini to my SE's

I just picked up one of those Ringo antennas, dont have it up yet, still using the mobile antenna mounted over top of my Jogunn on my tower. Not sure how to mount this other one on the tower, might mount it on another pole. Not too sure, XYL already makes it a point not to look towards my antenna area when she goes out.

Just a thought here on the 2-meter antennas. I have a Diamond CP22-E that worked really well for a year and a half, and then the wind and trees bent the radiator, so the SWR has jumped up to 3.0.1 on 147.330 which is our local repeater. When the antenna was new and ground conditions acrossed the s=desert wherre right I could hit the Las Vegas repeater that's over 230 miles from my home here in big Bear valley.

I also have a Cushcraft 4 element vetical beam and it would really get out there, but that's a different story.

Now I'm using one of the cheap MFJ 2-meter/440 antenna and it's been abused over the years and I bought it used. It's a great little antenna and it still has a better than 2.0.1 SWR over that large area reserved on 2-meters for the FM part of the band.

The Diamond was great that first year or so, but after the second winter the screws worked loose, and as I said the winds and trees bent the antenna, and the SWR became very steep. So as I said I had to replace it with my old cheapo MFJ 1/4 wave.

By the way the MFJ 1/4 wave at 30 feet does a great job.

I had a diamond quad antenna up on top of my JoGunns in NM, it is a mobile, but it worked well for 2,6,440, and 10 meter. For a mobile it did a heck of a job. I acquired a cushcraft I am going to use for 2 meter when I get the tower up here in Tenn.

Rich I did not know you had moved to Tenn. When did that happen?

Also if you have moved out to Tenn. I bet your DX openings will be better.

Take care and hope you had a Merry Christmas and that the New Year brins you and yours all the best.
