The YAESU FT-857 is a Nice Radio and has a lot of Very Good Comments.

The one that I like Better it the YAESU FT-847!

By the time you are Ready to get an HF Rig and the Sunspot Cycle is on the UP Side the price of the Yaesu FT-847 will be down where you can get a nice Demo or used unit.

You will not have to give up your Your YEARLY BIRTHDAY BUCKET OF KFC.

Sorry for the delay, I have been over at the coast for the week....:-) IF you MUST buy a Yaesu, instead of an ICOM, then I suppose the FT-857 is the one. The price and features are almost identical to the ICOM706...

Course you also have to take into consideration the new HF antenna, tuner, etc. in the equation. $$$ Since you are already radioed up for 2M and 70cm, you could go for the HF only rigs?
