What are your inputs on this radio?
I wanted a for real base station and I found this at waht I thought is a really good price. $60 with the uppers and lowers in it.
I plan on using this until I get my real real base. I will be using this primary and a magnum 257 as back up. Then using the cherokee as back up and the 257 as back back up.
I want like a 2980 type radio.

Too bad you're not a sidebander. The 257 is an easy 40 watt radio since it has dual finals as compared to the Cherokee's single final. Once set up correctly, your Mag-257 will run circles around the Cherokee-500.
