Tony - I'd suggest you have a qualified tech do a complete alignment on the radio if someone was turning pots and trimmers. If you just want to play with it yourself I'd suggest you get hold of Sams 292 and follow the proceedures laid out there. |

I'd like to thank all of you for your non help. Sam's wasn't right. I'm a licensed ham and a licensed tech. I'M THE ONLY LICENSED TECH IN 90 MILES. In the case of alignments after it was aligned would it still be aligned after it was shipped back? With the way packages are handled you'll be lucky if it isn't damaged beyond repair. Teham, Please do not take personal offense to posts made on the Copper Forum. I apologize but if the Forum Members or Copper Techs / Moderators do not have the information to offer help then it can get very frustrating. It is always better to have NO advice than to receive BAD advice / information. Keep posting and Hopefully someone with information / experience on this model will read this topic and be able to offer you help / advice. Lon Tech808

Teham I may be in error here but I believe the TRC-490 had the same board as the Cobra-140 and 142. And if that is indeed the case, CT-3 will be the frequency adjustment for USB, L-19 is for LSB and L-20 would be for A/M. Be very sure the clarifier is at center slot when making these adjustments. If I am incorrect about this being a Uniden board, then of course disregard this information and please except my I appology. Jeff Tech548 |
