I was just plaing around with a Radio Shack field strength meter and noticed that where I sit in front of the radio when on high power the FS meter shows a pretty high reading. I do not know if these meters are ment to read FS in a radio room. But I was wondering if there is a simple way to be sure I'm not being over exposed?

Probably over reacted, but I did not expect to see the FS meter go to the red when I keyed up right in front of the radio. I mean it's only a 2970DX, not a kw or someting, but it made me wonder.

The exposure hasn't bothered me one bit. I say that from years of experience folks. I've been around radios of all sorts since a small child.

Although......I have been able to read a book at night in the dark with only my glowing eyes to see by. Is this normal?
