Hi y'all!

I've recently modified my President HR 2510 for "relay keying" so that I can use it with my ham hf amplifiers. I even mounted a nice RCA jack on the back of the unit for easy hook-up. After doing this, I ran a jumper between the President and my Ameritron ALS 500M amp, and the amp keyed as it was supposed to. (That is, when I keyed the microphone on the radio, the amp keyed, and didn't unkey until I unkeyed the microphone.) However, I've got a question for those of you have might have more experience in this area than I do...

I'll be using Texas Star amplifiers with this President. Has anyone ever modified one of these amplifiers for "relay keying?" I assume that all I need to do is break the "rf sensing" circuit, add an RCA plug on the amplifier, and conncect to this point. Anyone ever done this before? Any comments, suggestions, etc. would be REALLY appreciated!

* I'm doing this because I don't like the carrier sensing relay system used in CB amplifiers. I prefer them to key when I key the transceiver and unkey ONLY when I unkey the transceiver. This makes SSB operation MUCH more enjoyable...
