I have DX2547 and want to go to dual finals. I've seen the mods for increasing output via swapping/replacing components and I don't feel that it would do the radio justice to stress the single final that much. Where can I order Galaxy factory parts? I would source them all out but it's probably just easier and cheaper (shipping) to get them from the factory.

Better yet, can I get the parts from Copper? If I can, should I order with galaxy part numbers, or generic values?

Chad,

For Galaxy replacement parts you will need to contact Galaxy at:

Galaxy Radios & Texas Star Units / Consumer Electronics

1-760-480-8800
Please contact for a RMA Number before returning products.

Sorry but Copper does not carry the parts needed for the Dual Final Modification.

Personally unless the radio is out of the 2 year warranty I would not suggest doing the Dual Final Modification.

If you want more power and have a power supply you can add the KL-40 or KL-60 way cheaper than doing the Dual Final Modification and have far more power and not stress anything.

The mod is not on that website but I found it elsewhere. The board is set up for the dual finals. It needs the final and support components stuffed, (misc caps, resistors, and a bias pot for that op device) I went through the power supply of the radio and it appears up to the task, actually quite robust, may update the voltage reg.

An amp is not out of the question, I recently purchased an Acopian PS off an auction site that does 17A at 12V 100% duty cycle, I have no idea what it limits at but it contains 2 sizeable transformaer and 8! 2N3055's as final regs. Not bad for 40 bucks in like new condition! Made my day :-) I see the dual final mod as being cheaper component wise as the component count is so small and my time is "cheap". It is also more compact and easier to take out for camping, road work, etc. I guess it boild down to the fact of me deciding on power output, The Duals can always be turned down at the RF gain control and still be there if needed. Decisions, Decisions!

I will look at your reccommended products and get back< Thanks so much!
