was needing one with good rec. and very loud audio was looking at a 2517 or a rci 2985 or a texas ranger base ?????

it depends on where you want to spend your money. you could spend it on a new radio, or you could buy a used one and have it aligned and or repaired by someone on this forum. (one of the techs, not me). i personally think that todays base stations cant hold a candle to the dual conversion receiver in my president madison. just an opinion though.
