I was going through some old boxes while we were moving and found a old Pierce Simpson Simba SSB. It works great, except on AM, The manual I found online says it has a Automatic Noise Limiter that is always on in AM mode, The problem With it is for some reason It blocks out everything... My area is loaded with strong AM signals, but it blocks them all out so it always sounds dead, even if I am listening to someone loud and clear on a channel on another CB in the same room, but yet the Simba stays completely quiet. The only person I can hear on it is my neighbor who's very close. Is there any way to disable it so I can recieve all the normal signals all other radios pick up It seems like a great SSB radio, Very loud SSB mode and the clairifier is easy to tune w/ plenty of slide and came unlocked from the factory.... I was considering purchasing the expansion board and adding new freq's. mainly for a nice SSB radio, but this AM noise limiter just bugs me. Is it worth the little money for the expansion.. Ive already priced it and its not very much... Also It has been modified for some kind of Frequency tuner, There is a jack on the side of it that takes something like a 1/4 inch stereo plug, And on the inside there are two wires that go to where the 11.100mhz crystal should be, anyone know what this was for...
