Cobra XL 250, blue face, works on am, fm,ssb,cw; has a rotary knob for low, med, hi, and max. Seperate sw. for pwr, pre-amp, and am/fm ssb/cw.
Here's the prob. the amp sticks in a full on transmit if you key down w/ the amp on hi or max.
Yet if you key down w/ the amp on low, or med it works properly, not my amp, buddy wants me to fix it, he sometimes uses it on high, or did when it was working. Any info on this prob would be a great help, I really don't want to replace the relay unless I have to.
Thanks,
Walter

CHECK YOUR SWR!!! Reflected energy holding the relay.

It's not the relay if it doesn't happen on all power levels. It's probably just RF leaking into the jumper between the radio and the amp. Try a different jumper and see if it still happens. Grounding the case of the amp might fix it too.

Racer X I had a similar problem, and I found a bad jumper that cured it! Good advice.

grounding it didn't work, I'll have to make a new jumper and see if that works.
Thanks for the info guys.
