I have one of the blue face galaxy 250 amps. This is a great amp but on ssb it just chatters like crazy. Need to add a delay or something for ssb. Anyone have any information on how to do this would be awesome. I love the amp but would like to use it on ssb. thank you in advance...

This is the mod for removing the delay from these amps. So if you check this part, you might find why as there is no delay...

Inside in the left rear quadrant (just a little left and back from tx'ers) is a 33uf cap. You can change it to a 10uf, keep the delay, and it won't interrupt your rx as badly. Be careful making this change....it's easy but if you rush or use too much heat you'll have a mess on your hands

The way they are mounted to the board you cannot clip one leg. To lift one leg you would have to totally disassembel the amp.
Make note of the polarity and clip off the top of the cap gently. Remove the remains leaving the two pins. CAREFULLY solder your new cap and switch there. If when switched out of line your tx chatters, you'll know to add a smaller cap for AM

bias has nothing to do with the delay/chatter. my class 'c' (AM biased) box works just FINE on SSB

Whether you have relay chatter or not, I can absolutely guarantee you that a class C amp DOES NOT work just fine on SSB. It splatters worse than a zit and is just as unwelcome.

Class C amps shouldn't even be used with AM unless there is a great deal of processing used so the envelope doesn't vary much. Class C is best used for FM where the envelope doesn't vary at all. For AM and SSB AB1 amplifiers should be used.

'Course these class c amps were intended for keydowns and not for transmitting information.Bigbob

What did what I say have to do with bias? Just check that cap and see if you have a problem with it or not. Maybe it was changed?
