What do you mean by lots of frequencies? How many do you need. Do you already own a frequency counter so you don't need a display? Why only 3 watts? Will you be running it into an amp?

IBaCBfreq: What you are looking for is not found in a stock, AM only citizens band radio. Sounds like your base radio might be one of the three top brands of amateur radio transceivers. What you are looking for on the other hand can be found in a sideband mobile. IE: pre'94 Cobra 148 GTL, Uniden Grant XL-LT or Cobra 148F-GTL. As far as scan I don't think so. |

ILUVRF: Yes the sideband rigs do draw more than 3 amps of current. But He said he was going to run it under 3 watts RF output and also stated he wanted lots of channels and these sideband rigs running AM with that small of an RF output don't draw a whole lot of current. My Grant XL drives 2 1/2 watts AM and 15 swing on sideband and draws only 3 amps on AM. |

My base rig is a stoner pro 40, so I see no need for side band in the add on unit. The stoner has a FREQ counter and PWR supply[3W At 13.8V]. The need for scan and the many FREQ'S is for my towing biz. We have mine pits here and 4x4 trucks get stuck out there often. Many of these guys are not smart enugh to use ch9 to get help. I am using my ts 5010 for now but I would like to go with somthing smaller. 73's and thank you for your input. |
