Why can't they make a ham radio that covers all these different frequencies as in 2,6. 10, 20 etc.?

There are lots that do just that. The Icom 706 MK IIG was the first to really do it, but there are many others.

Thanks. I guess I just wondered because you see so many with just two meters or six meters, etc. I realize not everyone gets a general or higher license, but a lot do.

Lets start with the ICOM ....
Yep there are many of them out there ONE of the BEST is a IC-706 ( XXXX ) in many flavors .....
They are dependible and many have been out there for a decade or more.

KENWOOD .....
There are several KENWOODS too I have a TS-2000 and there are many good things that I can say about it.

YEASU ....
Now the FT-100 and " D " have BIG problems BUT are nice radios IF YOU BABY THEM they are the grandaddy of the FT-857 type of YEASU radios.
The ft-817 only runs 5 watts but is a fun radio what goes 160 - 3/4 meters all modes and is a great radio for a small car with limited power supply or even on a battery .... again a 5 watt not 100 like the others.
The FT-100 is the only one that no longer made is is NOT supported either ( SADLY )
