Just how much power can the dx-2517 put out,is there a swing mod that is clean and cheap and simple?I've seen power outputs of around 40 or 50 posted, don't want to volt, but all I can get is 35 and only intermittantly on ssb,I know that's the characteristic of ssb,but I've heard when this radio first came out that it was supposed to be superior to all other standard galaxies and radios like it,except for the magnum brand(excluding the 3200).That's why I chose it for a base, now I hear nothing about it from anyone.I guess it's just a plain jane,run-of-the-mill,boring radio not worth modding. And one other thing,it has low noise fet's in the front end,so why the white noise?Somebody somewhere has got to have an answer to that question.Maybe I should just gut it and hide an S-9 inside, velcro, jumpers for the supply, antenna and mike and model locomotive drive shafts between the pots and outer nobs, they have tiny u-joints,then I would have a "galaxy" that sounds and talks like an S-9,devious aren't I.Bigbob |

Chalk it up to experience on the DX-2517. I've heard others speak about the terrible white noise they produce. Either you guys got hold of lemons or it was just all hype about those radios.I read somewhere there suppose to be one of the quietest radios. |

Bigbob, Sorry, but I do not know of any for the 2517. I just tried a Google & My Search, search for 2517 Modifications, 2517DX Modifications, Galaxy 2517, Galaxy 2517DX Modifications, Galaxy Modulation Modifications, all with no luck. Wish I could help. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

If it's an older one, do a search for EPT690010Z. The newer (current) production has the EPT690010C board. If it's the 10Z, you shouldn't have any problems finding what you need. I don't know about the 10C. |

Well,I fixed the white noise problem, the noise blanker coil was WAY OUT of adjustment, the slug was nearly at the bottom and to get rid of noise I had to move it to 1/3rd from top,it even gets rid of pulse noise better, now when the band is dead it's REALLY DEAD,HEHE.Bigbob |

Well,I love mine also, but it stays on the radio bench, lol, just surprised at the dirth of info regarding mods and the coil for the noise blanker if mis-adjusted can cause white noise that does not register on the s-meter,but to be fair the reciever is so broad banded that if a strong signal is on a channel 8 clicks away, you will get noise on the one your on,not sure if it is bleed over or just the nature of the beast.Bigbob |

I just thought the radio deserved a six digit counter and more frequencies. A radio of this caliber ought to have all of 10-11 and 12 meters. Just my thoughts. Mikefromms |

Yea, I think that this radio needs more channels in it also. But you know what they say, it's the antenna that counts. You hook it up to a coathanger and you get---- now hook it up to a Diamond Antenna: Ground Plane and see what you get next to an empty wallet. WOW!! it's a blaster. It costs to do some fine talking! |
