have put dual alternators on trucks, smaller amp with alt powering truck electricals, & BIG amp on added alt which was solely for the amp.
how is YOUR truck set up? 2 separate 130 x 130 circuits, or in parallel for 1 total circuit of 260 amps?
EVERYTHING would PROBABLY need upgrading, ALL ground wires & charge wires, in addition to making sure power cables from amps to batteries are of sufficient size. the burnt rubber smell really hurts resale value
seriously though, need to know how charge system is set up prior to giving suggestions...

hi patzerozero,ok both batt are parallal drivers side batt draws the amps 4 the truck.ground wires 4 both batts are 2/0,parallel wire is #4.stater wire is 2/0. I have #4 wire to run from each batt and both fused.I think left side batt is for the stater.I want to run the 450 amp 35amp draw on the driver side and the 85a draw on pass side will this work.Thank you

just wanna make sure i'm clear on this eight302. 'batteries' are parallel, therefore i assume alternators must also be parallel, for 260 amp charge capacity. i assume by 'parallel wire' you mean a wire that goes directly to BOTH batteries' positive terminals. only changes i would make would be 2/0 for parallel wire & MAYBE bigger wire for at least bigger amp. go all 2/0 all the way around. can't go wrong that way. you'd prefer to have higher drawing amp using SHORTER cables to battery, less resistance, less voltage draining possibility. you WON"T key mic & start truck at same time, so since (we are assuming) both alts are in parallel, it won't make a difference which battery you use-so go the shorter route for the bigger amp.
& with that charge setup, 2 or 3 driving 8 would work FINE, with caution 5 driving 16 would also work. OUCH

can't help you with that, eight302. place i got 'em from went out of business last fall. currently using #4 with smaller amp-yeah, the small ones were EASY to find...
try looking in back of 4 wheel drive mags-mobile welder, hi amp alt companies, etc, or in automotive stereo mags. that's where you'll find 'em.

Try checking COLE HERSEY, they deal w/ alot of big/ odd elec. parts, they might have something that might work.

Eight302,
I just went looking for Cole Hersey, can't find website. Did however find TerminalSupplyCo.com they have Bussman fuses and fuse holders. They show fuse holders and fuses that will handle 2/0 , and 40-80 amps and 100-300 amps. If I remember right Carquest or napa should either carry something this size or can order it for you.
