Ok if i go in to set the AGC control pot it seems to not be working at all. Also odd to this radio is the volume control knob most radios i use its set to about 930 on the clock but this ones hot i have it set like 830 or its to loud. O and buy the way AM AGC works just find but volume is same.

the reason i asked was that i have a mod that gives fast, slow, and AGCoff. for these radios. the mod goes like this. get a DPDT center off switch. on the top two terminals, solder a 100K resistor across them. on the botton two terminals, solder a 1meg ohm resistor across them. (1meg is whats in the radio now but dont use the old one because yours might be bad.) solder a wire to each of the two center terminals. remove R121. a 1meg ohm resistor. solder the two wires from the switch to the empty holes left by the removal of R121. that's it! now, the reason i told you all of this is that 1. its neat! and 2. to show you where the problem in your radio might lie. look around the area of R121. you will se that one leg of it is connected to Q31's base. i dont know what kind of transistor Q31 is but i recommend you replace yours. who knows, that might be all there is to it. if you do the switch mod and the switch doesnt seem to do anything, this would indicate to me that Q31 is definitely bad. also look for other bad components around this area. good luck. matt |

sorry, the mod i was looking at said it was for any PLL02A SSB model. good to know they are wrong. i guess that means R121 is wrong too. if you do the AGC switch to your radio; would you post the part numbers you used on here so i can write them down? thanks, matt |

Most ssb PLL O2A are the same but we still have a few odd board models like the GE 3-5875A it is a base and has two pc boards. one other model is the GE 3-5825B its a moble. Love to find one! I have the A here. Saw a B model on ebay three weeks back but it was looking real sad so i past it by. What radio you working on Kid V :0 |

i dont own any PLL02A radios at the moment, but i am on the hunt for a superbase. im trying to have the "big three" in my collection, and i already have the MB8719's and UPD858's top radios. when i get the superbase, i just want to have all the mods i want to do figured out. is your radio working good again? matt |
