had a dak x. xmit was real good, both AM & SSB. rcv was better then avg on AM, SSB was 'fair'. but then again, i was comparing it to the ft101e i also had at the time. don't know about the 300, but the d201a WAS better then the dak! better then NEW d201a's ARE available from ****** at about the cost of a 2995dx & spare 2950dx... am trying to negotiate the dak x i actually had back from the son of who i sold it to 20+ years ago. it doesn't work, son's not into radio, but wants mucho dinero for it... |

The DAK X is a Cybernet chassis so it's not the best radio as far as adjacent channel rejection but it's real pretty so people give it a pass. I've read that the Tram D300 is basically a Cobra 2000, so it should be excellent. I've never seen one in person so I can't say how well they work. |

doesnt the dak X use tubes in the amplifier section? if im right, that's worth it to me by itself. there's a mod in an old secret CB book that will give you 20watts swinging to 75, but it looks SOOOO complicated. the tram D300 is basically the same as the 2000 on the inside, but there are subtle differences in the PLL section and other areas. but for all intents and purposes they are the same. same mods work. just a few different circuit traces. buy them both. if nothing else they will bring a pretty penny on *bay. pat, i'll bet that's why the kid wants so much for the dak. he went on the auction site and saw one selling for 350.00! matt |

RECENTLY 1 started at $499....AND SOLD HIGHER! have seen quite a few go $300-$400-more! these people are CRAZY!!! my old 1 powers up, but nothing else, no xmit or rcv. he wants to keep for sentimental purposes, i'd like to buy it back for the same reasons...i assume he checks internet auctions |

i have an old unplayable guitar from my grandfather that you'd have to pry from my hands to get. i can understand the sentimental value. |

the tram 300 was made by uniden. they r much better than the dak. The 300 has very good receive and xmit. Hard to beat the 300. tony/n5jva/cef 259 |
