I am curious if it would be beneficial to ground all doors trunk and hood to the frame even thought the antenna is mounted on the trunk lid? I may do it anyways because I can get good ground straps from my work for little or nothing.

Yup.
It will even help eliminate static buildup in the vehicle. I have heard of alot people doing this with good results.

You can't have too many grounds! You will be surprised at how much grounding helps from swr, to noise, to interference on your stereo, to helping your car operate better.
