I have not hooked up my amp because my antenna is not up yet. but I am trying to check if any of the tubes got damaged during the shipping process. If I plug the amp into wall outlet, turn on main power switch, stanby mode on. Will all the tubes glow or only some??? If I had a bad tube would the fuse pop in warm up mode?? what should i look for??? I am scared to take the cover off I do not want to get electricuted. This is my first tube amp so please bear with me.

TIA

Cornbrown - although my KLV-1000 did not work so I had to send it back to Copper I can tell you this. I was told by the Copper Tech to unplug the amp for a few hours then remove the cover - there is a switch that when the cover is lifted cuts power to the amp - THIS DOES NOT mean that some of those capacitors or what ever are not still charged and can get you. There are three fuses inside that can easily be checked. I know nothing and was able to check that much myself. As for the rest and the tubes glowing etc. I can not say, maybe Tech-808 can. I was also told to burn in the tubes - turn the unit on and let it operate like that for 8 to 10 hours before using. Others say no need but I figure it couldn't hurt so why not.

Good luck.

Oh yeah, got my Galaxy Echo Desk Mic, TR 696F SSB Base, dummy load comes today, then I wait for the return of the KLV and the delivery of the Maco Antenna (not sure whats up with the antenna, may have to call Copper).

Hope to be talking to you soon.

Thanks Sinker.... I bet you will be happy when all your stuff comes in. The only thing that stinks with buying stuff online is the shipping. I am waiting for my S9 and Top One from Copper and a Low Pass Filter from elsewhere. I'm also hoping my new KLV1000 fires up when I hook it up. It would stink big time if I have return it.

Well I fired up the KLV for a few minutes..... Everything seems ok. Just have to master the tuning procedure for this thing....and also get used to the noise that the cooling fan make while transmitting.
