I would like some input from the extended family.
Currently I have my new S9 along with the TS DX500 in my Jeep. I am about to get my base station going again. The question is S9 + TS DX500 back in the house to play Base, or let the 3900 + Palomar 450 + TS Modulator play Base ? It's a dilema to me because I know the 3900 makes an excellent base but is half the cost of the S9. I would be happy with either, but if the S9 was removed out of the Jeep by some unscroupulous individual I would not be able to replace it, and would be unhappy about it. I would be unhappy either way. So I'll shut up and let my brothers and sisters of the Ionosphere speak!

if you're worried about theft, make the radio easily removable so you can take it with you. if you have a 'lockable' console, remove the radio BEFORE you get to where you have to park & lock it up. then leave the coax end VISIBLE with the hope that unscrupulous persons assume the radio has already been removed.

have received several comments on my metro NY locale as of late , so YES, here, we WOULD assume it WAS in the locked box & break in anyway...but hopefully in clearwater things are different

anyway, the thought would be that the S9 & dx500 does MORE output so use that combo mobile & the 3900 & pal as a base, figuring your base antenna will make up the difference in ERP vs the mobile setup & you'll have 2 good talking stations

True statement on radio use.

This place is bad, bicycles have been stolen right off my back porch, there are areas Tampa Bay that they would take the radio with you in the car, or take the car too. That's why I usually have my carry with me. A lot of the time I'd just assume stay home rather than drive, because of road rage. I am handicapped and there was this clown parked across the handicap spot.No big deal there were plenty of spots so the wife just parked in another spot, plus I don't mind walking a little. So the wife is in front of me walking and she gets to the side walk, and then I am walking about this time the guy across the spot decides to move when someone else says something, so he puts it in reverse, well guess who's behind the car now, I give a yell, but he doesn't here me, so I tapped his bumper with my cane. Well then he wants to get upset with me. Well myback is not too good but I can still get fiesty and pay for it later. Nothing became of the incident. I think it's just a lot of people in general are desynthesized to other peoples feelings and rights. So anyway I guess I'll leave the S9 in the Jeep.
