I purchased this Galaxy DX 2517 from Copper's on 7/19/05, when I took it out of the carton I noticed that the serial number was nothing but numbers typed on a piece of paper and glued to the rear of the case.By the following month I found this paper on the floor! So I got out the Krazy Glue Stick and glued it back on the rear of the case again. The other day I was cleaning my desk off and I noticed that it was gone again, I looked every place and couldn't find it! To be honest with you, this is the first time that I've ever seen this. I've been into radios since 1967 and all of the radios that I bought had a metal tag rivited to the rear of the case, showing the Company's name, model of radio and the serial number. Can anyone explain this one to me? I also looked on the bottom and it's not there either. It makes me feel like I have a hot radio, like a common theif. What if I have to send this back to Copper's for service, the first thing that they will ask for is the serial number. Bill45 |

Bill45, Welcome to the Copper Forum. Sorry but this is Standard Procedure with a lot of the Radio Manufacturers now. Just the little piece of paper with the serial number typed on it and stuck on the back. If you would have to send it back to Copper or to Galaxy for any reason you should have the original Invoice and would have no problem. For future use to Write the Serial Number on your Invoice and Owners Manual if you order any new radios. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Alot of other electronics have that little piece of paper for a serial # on them. Just another way to cut costs. I just looked at my rig, my President Lincoln that I bought 2 months ago from Copper has the paper serial number stuck on the side of the cooling fins on the back. Better write that #down i guess before the glue lets go on it.. |

Thank's alot guys for the information. I still have the invoice from Copper's and I did write the serial number down, so I guess that covers me. I just would like to see these Mfg's. put the serial number on something a little bit more permanent other than paper. Again, thanks Lon and Nobodyknows. Thanks, and good DXing Bill45 |
