Im trying to wire the D104 T-UG8 for a 4 pin uniden/cobra type connector. I think I got it figured out:
1. shield
2. audio
3. Trans
4. Rec
but I ran into one problem. The D104 is wired so the audio line is grounded when unkeyed which causes a real bad squeal when you let off the key.

Looking over the wiring I figured I could just disconnect the white wire going up the stem to the contacts since the audio is shunted to the amp anyways. Does this leg need to be gounded in the unkeyed Position or is it OK to remove this white wire and tape it off?

Also, anyone know what the resistance value should be on the mike element. Im not getting any reading between the 3 terms on the head unit.

Thanks

I had this same problem several years ago and had to disconnect the white wire going to the switch in the stem of the stand to have the audio wire not grounded in the receive mode.
[DISCONNECT ONLY THE WHITE WIRE GOING TO THE STEM], the other side of the switch makes the ground on the battery in the transmit mode.

Cool thanks Yankee for the info. Yeah I saw the bat ground. I was just worried the amp needed the ground on the front side to null the audio or something.

Any ideas on the mic element resistance? The fluke 77 meter I have reg about 15.4 M ohms across pins 1 & 2 and slowly rises. Nothing between 1 & 3 or 2 & 3.
