Hello, I work in the woods alot cutting wood, hunting, and trapping. I did have a bag phone in the truck for emergencies, but I got tired of the monthly bill.
I want to buy a Galaxy DX 2547 to use as a home base unit (to call the wife if needed). I would be using the SSB mode. What kind of antenna would I need for this radio? Would I place it on top of my house?
OK, I know I need a radio in the truck that has SSB also, what brand do you suggest? What about an antenna?
I live in Northern Wisconsin and the terrain is a bit hilly.
Thank you for your time...buddyboat

As for base antennas ....low priced base antennas TOP-ONE
mid priced Copper sells several 5/8 wave base antennas all work well.

On the Car .....
I own and use a HAM stick 5 foot and fine most 5 foot or longer car antennas trunk mounted work well and copper has several in the 5-7 foot lengh they should work just fine.

Best radios there are several and at some point i owned most of them BEST all around CB set is a GRANT LT but they are hard to find.
Now 2 ive owned can still be bought are ..

1)Best leagal CB radio galaxy 959

2) Best export a mag-257.

Just my opinion
Bruce
