Hi 915...sorry I saw this so late. I'd like to help but you don't give enough info...not your fault!
First question...by now are your problems solved?
Second question in case first answer is "NO" :-)
Do you have access to a digital volt/ohm meter OR any type of continuty meter?

If "NO" to Q1 but "YES" to Q2 then:

Put ground of ohm meter to copper (shield)
All other wired will be determined by their reaction to this.
Find which wire has continuity to the shield BUT cancels when you key the mic.
Congrats..you just found "Recieve" (other wise know as "RX")
Now key the mic and find which color wire has
continuity but loses it when you UN-KEY...yup "TRANSMIT" has been found. (TX)
You will have one wire that has constant continuity (PROBABLY Black) and that would be your "switching" wire common on this chassis.
That leaves one wire that should be the one the copper (or Shield) is wrapped around further down the coiled wire. Thats your "Audio" line.

Now...you mic end should be labled 1-5.

1=Audio
2=Shield
3=Recieve
4=Switching
5=Transmit

Good luck!

Ooops!
Just Re-read your post! You want to rewire a 4 pin mic to your 5 pin connector!
Same proceedure as above only I believe you would solder a jumper between where your Shield is soldered to the plug and the switching terminal where the switching wire should have went if you had one!
In other words:

1=Audio
2=Shield
3=Recieve
4= Jumper to term #2 (shield)
5=Transmit
Sorry for the confusion! Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong here. :-)

Hank
