I am looking for a good tech or a reasonable place to send this TRC 458. I got it a few days ago and it has been shelved for the past several years. It is in good shape and is worth reviving. I beleive it needs retuned and re capped. This is the radio that has the same board as the Cobra 138XLR and the old Washington. Great talkers when they are working. Ant suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Shyfire ....

RECAPPED? do you meen changing all the caps? As a rule labor cost is about 30-50 per hour and that would take some time. If they are truly bad you might do it yourself THEN go get it tuned ....

i agree with bruce. paying a shop to recap your radio will bring a HEFTY price tag.
you can do it yourself.
its not very cheap, but you will love the fact that you did it yourself.
and the shop will be impressed too!
tell the shop to do a complete alignment and you'll be happy.
