Purchased this used radio and everything was working fine, radio had not been peaked or tweaked. I would do this my self well something went wrong now it will not recieve at all no needle movement but sound come from the speaker when I unkey. I can transmit fine see my meter moving and all but no recieve. Can someone lead me in the right direction as to how I can fix this or will it be best to take it to a tech.

Thanks Doughboy

Again my guess is the mike cord is open or shorted. I looked the radio up and cannot find much on it and Montgomery ward is long out of supporting CB radios or anything else.
As for peaking and tweeking if you get it to work leave it ALONE ......

Does the have to be wired for the recieve to work on this radio.

There are 2 ways the PTT works on cb sets on most cb sets ( " Elecrtonic switching " ) the mike grounds a lead for either tx ot rx without the mike you cant hear anything on receive. The 2nd way is relay and if it used a relay as its PPT switch dirty contacts on a relay will kill the set too.
The problem with all older radios is parts and information see if you can get a copy of the Sams photo fact on that radio once you have a good diagram it will make it much easer to work on.

old ham radios have the same problem many of the companys that made them are gone
Hallicrafters
National
Gonset
Clegg
Drake ( no longer makes ham radios )
Hamerland
Central Electronics
Poly Comm
Swan ( Silconix )
Collins is still around not in ham radio ...
Just to name the larger ones .....
You only find parts on a junker or if some group has formed to preserve them
Which is why I dont mess with the older stuff anymore ....

Nickle ...

That might be but SAMS is about the only place you will find info ....
I doubt midland even knows about the radio.
I have a old ICOM ( IC-230 ) and got a schmatic from a ham who had worked for them for 35 years
THEY DID NOT EVEN HAVE THAT MODEL ON FILE!
Old radios are that way ..... sometimes it's just dumb luck ....
