I have a Robyn 123b that the channels are in the wrong order! I think someone moved the crystals around and got them out of order. When the selector is on ch8 the freq is ch 5. My question is what order do the crystals go. The crystals are 14950 14560 14970 14990 23290 23340 23390 23440 23490 23540. What order do they go starting left to right/ Thanks for all the great help I always get form the Copper web site

radiodude,
you may be in luck!

i just got done refurbing a robyn for a friend, and i think it was the 123B.
does it have a silver face, and a woodgrain cab?

if so, and probably even if its a different radio this will work.

its not the crystals that are wrong, its the actual piece of pastic with the numbers printed on it that has been moved.
take off the channel selector, and you will see that the plastic dial, and the ring with the numbers on it can move independently of one another.
it happens to a lot of radios that were made like this since they are getting old.
try to find channel 19. its most likely got the most traffic on it.
try to get a radio check, and confirm that you are indeed on ch.19.
if not, turn the channel selector on the radio the correct number of notches to get to 19 from wherever you just found out you are.
when you are sure you are on 19, position the number ring in the right place so that when you put the selector back on the radio, 19 will be directly centered on the light.
use some super glue or a little hot glue or whatever to keep the ring in place.
that should do it!

the radio i worked on needed to have all the big caps replaced due to age.
nice little radio when in good shape.
good luck,
matt

Nope! All the crystals were moved cause some of them were in a bag! If you could look and see what order those were in please that should do it.

darn!
i thought it was an easy one.

im not sure if this helps, but i have a secret cb here (volume 1) that has a crystal correlation chart in it, and here's what it says, doesnt say anything about the 14.xxx crystals though.

23.290 is for 26.965-27.005 (ch.1-4)
23.340 is for 27.015-27.055 (ch.5-8)
23.390 is for 27.065-27.105 (ch.9-12)
23.440 is for 27.115-27.155 (ch.13-16)
23.490 is for 27.165-27.205 (ch.17-20)
23.540 is for 27.215-27.255 (ch.21-23)

those are the transmit crystals, and the 14.xxx crystals are the receive crystals. (pretty sure)
the 14.xxx crystals should be placed in ascending order just like the transmit ones are.

if you know, or can determine which tray is for the receive crystals and which tray is for the transmit crystals; you should be able to place them in ascending order from left to right (radio knobs facing you).
if that doesnt work; put them in ascending order from right to left.
if that doesnt work; switch trays, keeping the crystals in the same order.
if that doesnt work; put the crystals in ascending order from the other direction.
one of those four schemes has got to be it!
good luck,
matt
