I have a Cobra 29LTD I would like to dead key 1 Watt swing 5 or 10.I do not want to cut the mod limiter. If I chang R58 to a 2.7ohm and R123 to a .47 ohm and retune L14,L13,L12 for max forward power. Will this do what I want?
Thanks for any help

Why do you need such a low key? What kind of amplifier are you running?

Blacksmith you need to remove JP6 which is near the 2SC2078 final in the rear of the radio. Replace that wire jumper with a 470uF 25v electrolytic cap with the negative side facing the rear of the radio (towards the final) After soldering that in, take a couple of 1k 1/4 watt resistors and solder them in paralled to the points you soldered the cap to. That will lower your dead key. You'll still need to retune the coils for max output, and open up VR4 a little to get your modulation up... so long as you're not overdriving it it will sound OK
