--Hi, all. I have my Texas Star DX350HDV sitting on the table with the heat sinks facing downward (like it looks in the picture)and a fan blowing through the heat sinks. Would it be safe to maybe turn the amp upside down so the heat sinks face upward? Then the heat from the heat sinks could rise...also, I would have a fan blowing on them as well. Is it safe to run it with the heat sinks in the "up" position...I would think there would be less heat that way. Thanks. |

how would it know that it's upside down?...unless you tell it 
if you'd prefer to keep it the right way, build some spacers to raise it 3-4" off the table. i'd look for a smaller fan & mount 2, 1 pulling & 1 pushing air through the fins. |

If it were me, I would just not let the amp know it was standing on it's head, and let the heat rise like you said. If cosmetics is a concern just build a box like Pat said. I built a box for my TS 500DX with a 110vac 4 1/2 inch fan mounted in the box. Heat did not have a chance to hang around. |

Build a little stand for it out of plexi or lexan. Get a width that fits in the heat sink fins snug. Then do Pats recommended (PATended?) fan install with plastic molys OR rubber vac plugs to keep the fan in place. I wired mine to the on/off switch in the kicker...although I don't know why I need it since I only use it for the PRE-AMP and medical science.

--Thanks. I guess I will just build some sort of whatchamacallit and put the fan underneath the amp. Yeah, I only use mine for the preamp function too ;-) |

Mayor513, This is what I did. I went to walmart and bought one of those little wooden shelfs you have to put together. They are small and have no backboard on them. Fits right on my desk on cost less than 10 bucks! With the bracket that came with the amp I just installed the amp to the botton of the shelf and put a fan under it!
