I picked up a Kopy Kat MA 100 single tube mobile amplifier from a coworker a couple of days ago. It has a single 8417 tube and is made by S.O.S. Electronics Co out of Memphis Tennessee. I hooked the amp up on my bench today and has a bad squeal on tx which is audible from the amplifier itself, and it is also being transmitted over the air. I have cleaned the relay but it didn't help. I can't tell what is making the squeal.. it almost sounds like it's coming from the transformer or the two electrolytic caps near the transformer. If anyone can give me some help I would appreciate it. Thanks |
