Don't know why, but always wondered if anyone ever tried putting "duals" out the back. You know, co-phase 2 amps, each with it's own antenna.

this topic has been dicussed on this forum before.
i think something like this IS possible.

some creative searching on the forum should get you to the thread im speaking of.

try searching the words, "cophased amps" in the subject lines, and see if that works.
i know people were talking about this some time ago.

I remember replying to a post about this before. I had never heard of it and said it probably wouldn't work, but after some research it seems I put my foot in my mouth.

If I remember, co-phased harnesses are 75 ohm coax to get the balance, but I assume the load would be the same as if there was just the antennas @ the end of them. Just need 2 of everything, 'cept the radio...

Ya know I would give it a try with a couple of my cheapy amps but I have already pulled out enough of my own hair just installing 1 amp! Can you imagine trying to set the SWR? Think of the power draw !

Just think of all the cool gauges you could mount on the dash, 2 volt, 2 amp, 2 SWR and all back lit blue, naturally. With that Honda gererator humming in the back seat to supply the juice! To top it off, one of those huge knife switches to throw.
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

i've been looking around & found.
the best way is to use a rf transformer.
search for "rf amplifier coupling".
if haven't tried it yet but it looks easy and, like what were doing in them pill boxes any way.
i've got 2 i'll try right now should be done this by weekend...

Darn Guys it's the antenna not the power going to it. I've found that with the right DX conditions and a good horizontal beam, I've talked world wide with 12 watts sideband.
Yes, I've heard of co-phased amps, but nothing I would mess with trying to get the match so it worked without blowing a few amps before getting it right. At around a hundred or more bucks for a good 200-250 watt amp, those hundred dollar bills don't grow on trees, if they did I would have several of those money trees in the back yard.

see there's that juju thing.
ya that wheel thing will never work.
& amps are kind of tuff.
but realy easy to work on.
i to love talking with the least amount of power.
when you make a conact with legal power that's doing it.
my fellow cbr across town has to run power all the time, but he's just plug & play.
can't out talk my antennas.
rhombics & whips rule!
i also like to learn new stuff to.
any ways....
got them to work!!!
1st:
relay timing is important.
i just coppied the rf output transformer & matching circuit.
still got to work on recv amp..
every thing you need to know is at
