Hello anyone know the right way to mod this radio
for 11 meters ? |

Well this is what I have for that radio, I hope it helps!
Locate the RF board on the side of the radio and cut the light brown wire at jack 7., which is going to pin 1. Your transmitter is now unlocked.
Let me know if that works for you. |

Ok that has been done think this radio has had
someone who didn't know what he was doing inside
as i removed covers and found wiring that was cut
and redone going to main board . Also talked to
guy it came from and he told me a truckstop
hacker had tuned on the radio without any manual!
Just wish it was in good working order! |

"The right way" is to not do it at all.
Amateur radios are for amateur radio frequencies only.
"The right way" is to use proper type accepted equipment for all other radio services. |

Well if the mod cuting just one wire was done
it be nice radio but this radio got problems |

No reason to use an amateur radio on cb frequencies. Get it back to original condition. That radio is good when operated as an amateur transceiver.
There are many type accepted radios for 11 meters. Not all are expensive. I got a Uniden Washington,stock, for less than (high bid site price). It works great. Sits right next to my 735. Both are operated as intended. Might be prudent to do the same.

AMENT
Sadly again one of my problems with the FCC the fact that a license to repair radios is no longer needed ..... so the radio hackers have at it .....
Chances ICOM can fix it for a PRICE ....... |

CB repair shops have been hacking radios with unlicensed techs since the beginning. When did dropping the GROL ever change anything?
I agree, why use such a nice radio on CB. However, it is very common to mod a ham radio to go out of band for MARS and CAP uses. Also, with the opening of the new amateur 60m band, you HAVE to modify your radio to use it on the new band. That is a legitimate reason. |

833 I AGREE however at least at that time a unlicensed tech was a ILLEAGAL tech today he has the right to hack all he wants ..... |

Well after checking this radio out from top to bottom and redoing a heck of a lot of wire's that
had been cut and taped back its working just fine
Sodapop you are right about wire to get Gen cov. |

I FIGURE THAT IF A GUY PAYS FOR THE RADIO HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS TO IT. HE IS THE ONE THAT HAS TO SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES IF HE GETS CAUGHT.
I KNOW OF A BUNCH OF LICENSED HAMS THAT HAS MODIFIED HF RADIOS THAT THEY USE ON 11 METERS ALSO AND THEY ARE THE FIRST ONES TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT A UNLICENSED OPERATOR WITH MODIFIED HF RIG.
ALSO THERE WERE SEVERAL GROL HOLDERS THAT MODIFIED RADIOS FOR CB OPS BECAUSE IT WAS EASY MONEY FOR THEM.
AND FINALLY, HOW MANY HAMS HAVE MARS/CAP MODIFICATIONS IN THEIR RADIO THAT ARE NOT CERTIFIED FOR THESE FREQUENCIES. I ALWAYS SAY, PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULD NOT THROW STONES!!!!!!

The guy asked a simple question. Answers are appreciated. I really enjoy reading the answers from knowledgable members. As someone said, if he gets caught that's his concern. It is nice to be able to do all hf from one rig. I'm searching for that radio myself.
