Hey guys what ham radios can a mod be done so they can xmit on cb and the freeband? |

If AM is your intention, you're much better off with a good CB radio that does AM well and is also outbander friendly, and a whole lot cheaper than an amateur transceiver, unless your plan is to get an amateur radio license at a later date.
The more up to date amateur transceivers were not designed for AM eventhough they have AM on them. They were designed to do sideband very well.
Just my own opinion and 2 cents worth. |

Check out any of the mods web sites...not sure if i can mention them so i won't to be safe. From memory FT 747/757, TS 2000, Alinco DX 77 seem to be very easy to do. No soldering just simple as move a jumper or flick a switch. Probably a heap more just as easy. That in most cases will give continuous coverage not just 11m.
Do some homework and suss out the mods for whatever radio you have in mind...don't take my memory as gospel....lol.

hyperno...the 747 requires soldering to mod it. the 767 uses the 'switch' method like the 757. |
