The instructions call for me to hook up the 4 included fuse holders, each with a 30a fuse, at my power source (truck battery), then, all 4 to the power cable extending to the amplifier mounting location, which has a 175a 2ga grey connector on the end.

My question is....These 4 included fuse holders are made with maybe 10g wire, and each have a 30a fuse (included). Can I just delete the 4 seperate fuse holders, and in their place, put a single 120a fuse at the battery, and connect that to the run of power cable?

Maybe I just don't get it, but the 4 seperate 10ga holders with 30a fuses, connected to the power cable seems to be the weak link, as opposed to a single 120a fuse holder connected to 1 or 2 gauge power cable.

These instructions are straight off the instruction sheet that came in the box from Texas Star, and the fuse holders and fuses were also included in the box.

Help me out guys!!!

Capt205,

Personally if it was mine I would follow the installation instruction's from Texas Star EXACTLY step by step.

If anything would happen to go wrong it is a LOT easier to find replacement 30 AMP ATC Blade Fuses than it would be to find a 120 AMP fuse.

If Texas Star did not want it connected as they describe they would not have included the Installation Instruction's and part's for proper installation.

Just think you could have the 1600V which take's 5 ~ 30 Amp ATC Blade fuses instead of 4.

And if anything would or should go wrong and burn your vehicle up you should be covered as it would have been installed per Manufacturers Instruction's.

Just my personal thought's,

Update....I talked directly to Galaxy/Texas Star about my question, and here is what they told me.

Yes, I can subsitute a single fuseholder capable of 120a in place of the 4 seperate 30a holders. The reason they include the 4- 30a holders and fuses...as they told me...was as a courtesy for people who do not have acess to large guage high current fuses and holders.

So...since I had them on the phone, I asked if a 150a automotive circut breaker would be OK, and was told that it would be fine also. So that is what I'll use. Thanks for helping out.
