I finally got all components together for install. Radio, amp and antenna. KL300p has a 3 way power switch, in the up position it says, "Pre+Lin ON, then the center or I assume off, and bottom it says Pre ON. Does this do what it says? Also main board says rel 4.1 and small (switch) board says rel 4.0. Amp will be mounted in a inaccessible area and I plan on running 3 remote switches for
1)power amp on/off, 2) power preamp on/off and power level high/low.
For amp 1 and pre 2 switch should I switch from transistor that controls relays? The power will be simple or I may leave it set to low.

Wow they have changed them.

It sounds like you can turn oon just the receive preamp or the preamp and the linear. Which is odd. I defeated my preamp because my radio had plenty of ear.

I have an older one. I always had it on "Low" which incedentally it makes the same amount of power it just decreases the sensitivity (Verah Naas in IMHO) So I just had a remote to simply turn it on and off.

Well I ended up just relocating one switch the main power on/off/pre switch and LED. Mounted switch in dash next to A/C controls. Looks OEM with amp mounted under seat ;)

Will my transmit go farther changing my Midland 1001z to something better? At what point will the kl 300 make its most power without burning it up? According to my meter my radio DK is about 2-2.5 and peak/PEP 3-4.
