I was thinking of buying a night eagle. It's currently wired for 4 pin. The mic has 2 buttons on the base that are assumed to be for channel button for a ranger. They look identical to the channel buttons on the top of the factory ranger mic. They currently have no wires run to them. How hard would it be to run those as channel buttons? Would I just have to change the MIC cord to a 6 wire mic cord and hook the mic connector up simular to the stock MIC?

Thanks,

Yes, 6-wire mic cable, pins 5 & 6 are channel up & down - at least on the 2995.

Great! Thanks for the info Draft. Know where I can find a 6 wire cable or should I leave it to a pro to do?

Nevermind...I found some.

Think a pro should do it though?

Linx,

If you have soldered before it is very easy.

However if you do not have good solder and a good Fine Tipped soldering iron have someone do it for you.

Astatic Night Eagle to Ranger 2950

On the 6 Pin Mic Plug (Radio Connector)

PIN #1 ~ Shield & Blue
PIN #2 ~ White
PIN #3 ~ Red
PIN #4 ~ Black
PIN #5 ~ N/C (No Connections)
PIN #6 ~ N/C (No Connections)
Yellow Wire N/C (Not Connected)

Hope this help's,

Lon

Lon,

Thanks for the info. I have soldered many times before, I just hate to ruine a perfectly good MIC! Thanks for the wiring guide too. I have one more question however.

If this particular mic has 2 addon buttons on the base for channel up and channel down, and is wired 4 wire/4 pin and the channel up and down buttons are currently not in use, could I not wire to that standard with a 6 wire cord, and then just use the 2 extra wires to go to the 2 extra buttons, and put them on Pin 5 & 6 to make those buttons functional channel changing buttons?

Hope that made sence...lol.
