Cdp1953,

SUPERSTAR DM-452 Microphone COBRA/UNIDEN Wiring:

4 ~ Pin Mic Plug Model

Pin #1 Common / Yellow
Pin #2 Audio Output / White
Pin #3 Transmit / Red
Pin #4 Receive / Black

5 Pin Mic Plug Model

Pin #1 Audio Output / White
Pin #2 Shield
Pin #3 Receive / Black
Pin #4 Common / Yellow
Pin #5 Transmit / Red

MAGNUM 257 Microphone Wiring:

Pin #1 ~ Microphone Audio
Pin #2 ~ Receive
Pin #3 ~ Transmit
Pin #4 ~ Down(Up w/22K Ohm Resistor)
Pin #5 ~ Ground
Pin #6 ~ +13.8VDC NOTE! Make sure Nothing comes into contact with this Pin on the radio.

Your color of wires are different from the SUPERSTAR DM-452 so you must have a different brand but the pin out should be the same.

Hope this help's

I have the Aries DM-452. It is wired with 4 pin plug now.
1.Shield
2.yellow
3.blue
4.black
Red is NC

How do I convert this mic cable over to the 6 pin?
Do I need the red, or swap it with another?

Cdp1953,

You will need a 6 pin Microphone Connector and you will only use PINS #1-2-3-5 on the 6 pin mic connector to connect to the Magnum 257.

CLICK HERE ® MIC CONN 6PIN FEMALE PLUG

You will need to figure out what wire went to each pin on the mic you have now and match to the pinout for the MAGNUM 257 listed in the above post.

If you were using it on a Cobra/Uniden Radio you should have no problem's.

The color of the wires may be different but the pinout should be the same.

You will not use PIN #4 or #6 in the 6 Pin Mic connector.

Your information was very helpful. I just wired it up and it is working great.

Thank You!

I'm not trying to spoil your soup but the stock mic is the best thing I have found for that radio, it's like they were "made for each other"

The stock mic was too small for my hand and I was always going off freq from bumping those up/dn buttons. I was also told that it was too bassy. The DM-452 cured that problem and now everyone says that I sound great!

Wire your mic to Cobra 4 pin and buy the adapter from copper. That way you can just swap the mic from radio to radio without re-wiring.
